lovely lovely records

my two favorite vinyl records in my small small collection
(you need windows media player to listen to samples)

eddie jones and edward hazelton - one string blues

ok, this record isn't really mine. it belongs to my parents. apparently they have owned it since before i was born, though i never once recall them ever playing it(or much of any of their records, really). so, i took it off their hands and gave it a new light.

the amazing thing about this album is one of the instruments used, the "one string guitar", built by eddie jones, a wandering hobo. as i recall, it consists of a 2x4 with one string tied down with a nail. a small metal bucket slides up and down the string to change pitch.

i found this gem at the thrift store the other week. how? i have no idea... great example of 70's experimental moog synth music.

m audio digital recorder

i bought myself a little toy for my birthday...

"The MicroTrack is a rugged high-fidelity mobile 2-channel digital recorder that records WAV and MP3 files to CompactFlash or microdrives—perfect for everything from professional field recording to corporate meetings, training, education and worship."

worship? i am soooo recording my loyal elk pawns chanting to the high elk master for cheesy poofs and chicken stuffed burritos with sour cream.

i'll probably offer some mp3 recordings on this blog in the near future so keep an eye out!

the big lebowski

the fucking short version...

i change like wild fire

i've come to the decision to make this blog cover everything of interest to me. my attention span is way too short to focus on one subject(aka my doodles). yes, my doodle blog didn't last very long, did it? oh well... thats how i roll.

so anyway, american maverics has a nice page on harry partch that lets you play a few of the instuments he invented.

"By 1969, the year he recorded "Delusion of the Fury," Harry Partch had designed 27 new instruments, all to be played on stage at the same time in a spatial ritual theater."

check it out

who is this guy?!

so i was walkin' down lincoln road during one of their sunday antique sale events and stumbled upon this wonderful old photo album from the sixties. i bought it for ten beans. the fellow wouldn't bargin. not even a notch. anyway, the book was full of great photos. i gave a lot of them away one day at a punk rock yard sale. i just had to share. there was so many to go around. i, of course, still kept the best ones. a lot of pictures of this guy:

i have no idea who he is... i like his hat though. its beyond rad. props for wearing head gear while chillaxin' in the pool. my kind of slacker.

he apparently has this hat in an assortment of colors. i assume to express his current mood. here he is rather blue while standing before the ocean blue.
